Exciting year

2016 Films to Look Forward to

Entering a new year can be an exciting time, (  a poor one as Christmas wiped us out)  but an exciting. Since last year I have come across some teaser trailers of upcoming films for 2016 and now "Empire" magazine have revealed films coming out and their dates. Here is a list of films coming up this year that I am looking forward to see and some I am sceptic about and noted down the dates of release on my calender. I will also attach links for these trailers at the bottom of my page.

Deadpool - release date - 10th Feb ( UK )

As you know in my previous blogs I am a big Marvel fan and even though it was a brief appearance I thought Ryan Reynolds played a good part in X-men Origins - Wolverine as Wade Wilson so it will be interesting to see him in his own movie. The trailer was quite blood thirsty and off putting but had a comical side.

Batman vs Superman - release date - 25th March

This will be the first time we will see Ben Affleck play as Batman, Henry Cavill pulled it off well as Superman, will Ben do the same thing and could this be a good start to the Justice League.

The Jungle Book - release date 15th April ( UK )

I really can not wait to see this film, I love Disney and love The Jungle Book, Disney have set it darker with some fantastic big names doing voice overs in this with the likes of Bill Murray, Scarlet Johansson, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken..this is one to watch out for.

Captain America: Civil War- release date 29th April ( UK )

Another sequel this one you get to see the big civil war combining more of our favourite characters including iron man, Scarlet witch, Antman and Spider man plus many more....not really  a Captain America fan myself..sorry guys...but looking forward to the action thats ahead..

X-Men : Apocalypse - release date  19th May ( UK )

Really can not wait for this one either, this is another one in my diary with a must watch star lol. With the Gambit Movie fast approaching ( Yay!! ) I am hoping to see a teaser at the end with Channing Tatum as  Gambit himself as most of the Marvel movies have finished off with lol.

Warcraft : The begining - release date 3rd June ( UK )

Love the game and the movie looks intersting, I do not think it is a big blockbuster but it will be a must see for Warcraft fans. The film trailer looks similar to Avatar so will be intriguing to watch.

The BFG - release date - 1st July ( UK )

Steven Spielberg has recreated the Roald Dahl classic The BFG, compared to the animated version years ago this another story that will move your imagination.Reminds me a bit of Harry potter but maybe it is because of how the trailer starts off.

Star Trek: Beyond - release date - 22nd July ( UK )

Yet another sequel to the Star trek , looks good, looks action packed and the same quirky characters

Suicide Squad - release date 5th August ( UK )

I have been recently watching the series  Gotham which I would recommend big time if you are a DC fan. Gotham is like a prequel to Batman and everyone including the villains have a story and you even feel sorry for the penguin. Since watching that and seeing the trailer for Suicide squad it will be interesting to watch when it is released and seeing what they have done with our much loved Villians and with a bit of Queen could be a good sound track.

Glass Painting

Ariel Wine glass

Christmas I had some Glass paints brought me, I have always wanted to have a go at glass painting. as it looked interesting. I had a girl do Toystory design ones for me for my wedding and I was impressed with them, and the kids loved them too, I love drawing so thought it would be great If I could have my own  Favourite character painted on a glass or candle holder. I went out a few days after the busy Christmas period  to purchase some blank wine glasses and went straight into it. I thought I would have ago at painting "The Little Mermaid" as that is my all time favourite Disney film. I started Drawing Ariel free hand on plain white paper and then got a clean wine glass and used masking tape to hold the picture up the opposite side of the glass so I can see the outline. Using a black outline pen I followed round my drawing. Once completed I started filling in the colour. It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete and I was very pleased with the out come..especially as it was my first time. I  then using a pint glass a few days later I had a go at drawing Harley Quinn from batman but as I was using a new outline pen I had brought from HobbyCraft I was not impressed with what I did so I tried again..This time I did a glass candle holder and did the " The Nightmare Before Christmas" sihoutte, I was satisfied with the outcome but I do need to do more work on them.. I have put up on my shop as samples as I did not want to sell these ones due them being my first ones.. I am hoping to do more in the future so I better get practising.. I hope you like them.

My top 5 Christmas films

My Top 5 favourite Christmas films

Christmas is approaching very fast and even though it is a stressful time of year it is also very exciting, especially when it comes to the festive films we all love to watch with our families at Christmas. I love snuggling up in front of the fire on the sofa with my hot chocolate. So here is my top 5 favourite Christmas films

  1. Home Alone
This film is about a mischievous boy called Kevin ( Macaulay Culkin ) who's family come over for the holidays to get ready for they're big trip to France. After Kevin and his brother Buzz cause a big scene, Kevin is to blame and he is sent up to the attic where he tells his mom that he wished his family could disappear, his mother replies " becareful what you wish for as you never know it may happen some day" and in this case it does when Kevin wakes up to find he is alone...but not too long.....This film is the first one I watch  and I always watch it on the 1st December after we have put up our Christmas decorations. I can not believe the film is now over 20 years old..makes me feel old anyway lol but I still enjoy watching it every time.

     2.  Home Alone 2 : Lost in New York  ( Yes!! I had to put this )

You might be thinking really?? but I do like to watch this one on Christmas Eve to finish my Christmas countdown. I always settle down with a fresh hot pizza from my local Domino's and watch this. For those you have not seen it, it is basically a similar story to the first but Kevin ends up on the wrong plane and ends up in the Big Apple.

    3. Elf

Elf is a bout a young baby from an orphanage that accidentally ends up back at the north Pole with dear old Santa. Unknown what to do one of Santa's elves decides to take him on as his own son. Buddy ( Will Ferrell ) Ends up getting to big for the work shop, learning that his real father is alive but on the naughty list, but gets to his birth place in New York to meet with his father and hopefully build up a relationship but all is not that easy for a Big Elf in the Big city. Love this film, Will Ferrell plays a good part as Buddy the Elf and it is a laugh out loud comedy all the way through.

  4.  Gremlins

Not really a popular kids choice but I love watching this film at Christmas as the film is set at Christmas time. Gremlins is about a young boy that adopts a cute Mogwai called Gizmo the three rules of owning one is - Do not expose him to bright light or water and do not feed after midnight, When all this happens Billy ( Zach Galligan ) has more work on his hands.

  5. The Santa Clause

This film is another favourite of mine not only is it christmassy but Tim Allen of Home improvement is in it. The film has a very funny story line throughout. When divorced dad Scott ( Tim Allen ) accidentally kills a man in a Santa's suit on Christmas Eve he ends up  putting on the suit and he becomes the next Santa and gets transported to the North Pole, it is then a  race against time before the next Christmas arrives.Scott over the next several months starts physically changing and ends up with a white beard that once it is shaven reappears.

Well that is my top five favorite Christmas films, I hope you like them and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.

Meet Hank

Hank the Daschund

Hank

Sorry That I have not been on for a while but I have had a hectic few weeks. Firstly I had to look after the Husband after he got the flu...Yes flu and this time it was not the dreaded manflu..It was horrible he was bed bound for 2 weeks but he is finally over it now. Then of course we had a new arrival in the Withers household....Hank our Miniature Daschund..He has kept me busy trying to settle him in and get a routine in place. Now he is settled and we have started a routine I can get back to blogging :)

We had Hank on the 17th October at 10 weeks old...Got to say for a puppy he is quite well behaved..He just drives me potty running rings around me and constantly have to get things out of his mouth..lol.

Anyway I will be doing a couple of reviews soon on  films I watched at Halloween called 'Howl ' and ' Poltergeist 2015 '.

Speak soon x

New Craft

Needle Felting

I thought I would try out a new craft after spotting a few people doing it on Etsy. Some of the things that people produced where fantastic, making models of animals and all sorts. When I clicked on the items it was described as Needle felting which at the time I never heard of...So I googled and you tubed it to get an idea of how it works.By the video's it looked easy to do just jabbing a needle into wool...It probably wont be...lol. So I went on Amazon and got myself a starter kit for £16.99 which comes with 20 assorted colour wool felt, Needle felting mat, needles, needle holder and an instruction booklet. The company selling through Amazon is called Heidi feathers, the link for the site for anyone that is interested is below. I will also add links to video's and pictures of peoples work so you can see for your self. I will start off with the samples in the booklet to see how I get on and hopefully progress to having ago at making my late dog Eddie come to life with needle felt...wish me luck lol.

Child 44

Disappointment

Drama, Thriller  3/10

Starring - Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace

As promised I watched Child 44 the other night after I saw the Dvd in HMV and thought it looked interesting. I thought with big names such as Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman it must be good and worth the watch.... I have learned that the phrase " Do not judge a book by it's cover " is actually true...I started watching this film with Paul and 56 minutes in we decided to turn it off as we could not watch anymore and we carried on watching the True blood series that we are in the middle of watching. In my own opinion I can not really write a synopsis about this film as it was confusing for me..well for both of us..It was like the director could not make their mind up what the story was about...is it about a child murderer or is it about treachery....so confusing. Tom Hardy's Russian accent was also that strong it sounded like he was mumbling and we could not tell what he was saying. So in the end we lost interest in the film as we could not keep up and turned it off.Sorry but I would not recommend it, I have always been a believer though that you must judge for yourself as everyone has different interests and opinions and may suit someone else but it was not my cup of tea....
